BSN Clinical Instructors facilitated the conduct of four days of Disaster Nursing Seminars September 29 – 30 and Oct 5-6, 2009. The exercise was all part of Level 4 NCM 104.
There were demonstrations and return demonstrations of different procedures and simulated scenarios of emergent events. The students were divided into 4 groups and given topics to present. These included common medical emergencies (CME), soft tissue injuries (STI), cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and emergency rescue and transfer (ERT).
Nursing students were the speakers of the seminars, and the clinical instructors were the evaluators. The intent of the activities is to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills for disaster nursing.
