Basic Education Department

Once more, after another year, USI is greatly privileged in hosting the arrival of INA for a day’s visit, July 28, 2010. The most important preparation took place a day before with several schedules made available to the USI personnel and students for the sacrament of reconciliation. Confessions were held at the main and Panganiban campuses between 8:30 and 11:30 in the morning. Frs. Maximillian Ciar, FFI, Aloysius Rosales, FFI, Rudy, SOLT, Ernesto Caritero, SJ, Ronald de Jesus, SOLT were generous with their time and devotion.

On D-Day, the PAGSUNDO Procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral to USI started at 8:00 in the morning. Voyadores consisted of the male faculty and students c/o Mr. Ortañez and Mr. Tretasco. Order of procession: Cerialis, USI Band, IMAGE OF INA, Sister/Administrators, Faculty, CSG and HED Religious Organizations, BEDSCO and BED Religious Organizations.

The procession entered through the Jacob Gate towards the new Chapel (Voyadores: BED Female Faculty and students), to the string ensemble of Mr. Cirilo Aquino. At the BED Lobby (Voyadores: Male HED Faculty and Personnel c/o Mr. Magdaraog), the BED Glee Club and Dance Troupe took turns under Ms. Perez

At the Winding Stairs, the Sisters and CASTED under Dr. Ferro took charge. Voyadores were the female HED faculty c/o Ms. Merilles and Mrs. Cajuday, and the Co-Acad group c/o Mrs. Iperial. The Health-Related courses under Sr. Lourdes Sabidong, DC were in-charge at the basketball court. This is where the welcome rites were held, with a Prayer of Welcome and a message from the Sister Sony Evidente, DC, USI President. The voyadores were the Maintenance staff, Administrators and Sisters.

At the Social Hall where INA held court, vigils by all departments of the University were held from 9:00 am until the Closing Liturgy and Eucharistic Celebration at 4:00 pm., after which the PAGHATOD procession participated in by all sector of the school brought INA back to the cathedral. Mr. Eugene Cejero and Emma Villacorta acted as Animators for the ceremonies.
