The Student Discipline Coordinators, Student Activity Coordinators, and Araling Panlipunan Teachers of the Universidad de Sta. Isabel-Basic Education Department (USI-BED) conducted an Anti-Bullying Webinar for students from Grades 4-12, dubbed as “Isulong ang Paggalang, Bullying ay Iwasan,” last November 12, 2021, via Zoom Cloud and BED Facebook Page.

Anchored on the theme “Pagiging Magalang at Responsableng Vincentiano sa iba’t-ibang Panahon at Pagkakataon,” the said activity aimed to define bullying and its types, discuss the effects and impacts of bullying, discuss the anti-bullying law, and learn ways on how to value, support, and nurture each person to prevent bullying.

“I think every student must learn the topic of Anti-Bullying since we need to have a safer environment for each of us. And of course, we are hoping that each student will be friendlier and will avoid bullying, whether online or face-to-face set-up, after knowing the matter,” Mr. Emman Christian Tres Reyes, the SHS & NHS Student Activity Coordinator, said.

The webinar featured Atty. Leah Marie M. Sernal-Lood, alumna of Universidad de Sta. Isabel’s Basic Education Department and the acting Senior Manager of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), as a resource speaker who discussed topics on Anti-Bullying.

In her talk, Atty. Leah presented the concept of bullying, its effects on one’s overall well-being, and the best ways to respond to it. She also emphasized the importance of nurturing a friendly environment free from any form of bullying by living out the values of co-responsibility and respect for one another.

“Akala natin na when we say bad things to other people, sila lang nasasaktan. But we forgot that when we say bad things to other people, it is a reflection of ourselves as well,” Atty. Sernal-Lood stated.

During the open forum facilitated by Mr. Emman Christian Tres Reyes and Ms. Maricris Collao, the BED students actively participated by asking many questions about the topic, showing their eagerness to improve their relationship with their peers and mitigate bullying in USI-BED.

“The students were very active. They were not just asking questions, but they were also reacting to every slide or idea being presented by Atty. Sernal-Lood about anti-bullying since they were very relatable; overall, I could say that the students were pleased and also delighted about the webinar.” Tres Reyes added.

The event concluded with the presentation of the E-Certificate of Appreciation to the esteemed guest speaker.
