Anchored on the theme “Showcasing English and Reading Skills in the New Normal,” the Universidad de Sta Isabel- Basic Education Department (USI-BED), fronted by the English and Reading Area, opened the English Month 2021 dubbed as “November English Rush: English and Reading Festival 2021,” on the 5th of November, Friday via Zoom Cloud and was simultaneously broadcasted on the USI-BED’s Facebook page.

The soft launching of the month-long celebration was followed by interactive activities for the students, such as #MyFavoriteBook and #ReadingPledge, which gave them an idea of the kind of prepared and in-stored events for them for the whole month.

A variety of fun-filled written, oral, and reading-related games, presentations, and activities, anchored on the value of Vincentian Excellence, were divided into sets to be accomplished per week, which will be conducted within November.

“As the Editor-in-Chief of the BED’s official publication, The Isabelina, I am looking forward to the students’ active participation in the activities prepared by the English and Reading Area while they showcase their Vincentian Excellence. I am also looking forward to the many activities that will be conducted this English Month, may it be synchronous or asynchronous. Even though our celebration is very different from before and held online, I believe that the students would have many more opportunities to showcase their English and Reading skills.” Ashley Bien, the current Editor-in-Chief of The Isabelina, said.

“The students were also very active and participative during the event, which made it a lot more lively and entertaining despite the online modality that was used. Their excitement and eagerness for the November English Rush 2021 were indeed seen in their participation on the opening day of the celebration,” Bien added.

The Opening of the English and Reading Festival concluded with a presentation of the Trailer and the Jingle in connection with the English Month celebration.

E-Reading Comprehension Challenge, E-Grammar Challenge, E-Blockbuster Vocabulary, and E-Chain Story Writing are the set of activities for the first week. While Spoken Poetry, Poem Delivery, Declamation, Oratorical, Audio Storytelling, Food and Beverage Photo Essay Contest, and Smart Talking are reserved for the second week, followed by the Pajama Reading Day on the third week. Lastly, Fun Games, Parallel Talks, and Virtual Parade of Characters (Mask Edition) will be done on the fourth week.
